The Hungarian Republic’s Order of Merit (Commander) in 2004
The Order was instituted in June 1992 as the Cross of Merit in three grades: bronze, silver and gilt. It was eventually expanded to include knight, Officer, Commander, Grand Commander, Grand Cross and Grand cross with Holy Crown ranks. This honor is bestowed on those who have contributed to the advancement of the interests of a free and democratic Hungary.
Adnan Kassar’s strong relationship with Hungary has been exemplified over the years by the sustained trade and business ties he formed with the country, namely with A.A. Kassar having been the exclusive agent of Malev Airlines in Lebanon since 1959.
